Update 1.52 represents one of our most significant releases yet. This isn't just a patch—it's a statement about where OceanIR is headed as a geolocation AI platform.

We've rebuilt core parts of the platform from the ground up: a completely redesigned authentication experience, major profile improvements, and a new identity for our AI engine.

Introducing Orca

We've been calling our lightweight analysis engine “O-Lite” since the early days. As the engine evolved, the name no longer captured what it had become.

Starting with 1.52, O-Lite is now Orca.

Why Orca? Orcas are known for their intelligence and precision—exactly what our geolocation AI delivers when pinpointing locations from imagery. The name stays true to our ocean-inspired brand while feeling more distinctive.

Auth page redesign

The login experience is your first impression of OceanIR. We've completely rebuilt the auth page from scratch using our new design system.

What's New
1
Dark-first design
Sleek black background with carefully calibrated contrast.
2
Framer Motion animations
Subtle micro-interactions make the experience feel alive.
3
Cloudflare Turnstile
Bot protection that blends seamlessly into the dark theme.
4
Streamlined Google OAuth
Better Auth's native implementation for reliability.

Profile improvements

Your profile page is now more powerful with better control over your account:

  • +Google account unlinking — Disconnect and re-link anytime.
  • +Real-time credit sync — No more stale balances after purchases.
  • +Email-based matching — Credits sync correctly even with ID mismatches.
  • +Cleaner layout — Better visual hierarchy throughout.

Goodbye guest payments

We've removed the guest payment system. Previously, you could purchase credits without signing in, but this created problems:

  • —Lost credits when clearing browser data
  • —Complex sync between guest and account credits
  • —Security vulnerabilities with browser storage

Credit purchases now require sign-in. Your credits are always tied to your account and synced across all devices.

Miami UI overhaul

The Miami map interface is where most users spend their time. We've rethought how information flows and how actions are presented.

1.52 lays the groundwork for bigger features. The Orca rebrand sets the stage for expanded AI capabilities we'll be announcing soon.

We're working on WebAuthn support, letting you log in with biometrics instead of passwords. We're also expanding beyond Miami—the New York and Los Angeles interfaces are getting the same UI treatment.

As always, we're listening to feedback. Reach out on Discord or drop us an email. We read everything.
